Creating at home
You can purchase most items at any fabric store. Pick up foam board (20x30 inch), quilt batting, inexpensive fabric (2 feet), ribbon (at least 15 feet), string and needle, hot glue gun, glue refills, tape measure, knife, scissors and sewing pins.
Prep the board
Mark a line down the middle of the foam board and cut it in half. Cut one piece of batting slightly smaller than your board and the other with an inch extra around all the edges. Put the bigger piece on top of the smaller one and use the hot glue gun to glue the batting to the back of the board. Cut your two feet of fabric in half or less to cover both boards. Glue the fabric, leaving some loose at each corner. Pull the fabric tight before gluing it in place.
Last steps
Turn the corners of the fabric toward the center of the board, making triangular flaps of fabric. Fold these two triangles in and glue each one to the board or cloth. Cut off any extra fabric. Using your ribbon, make an "X" from the four corners and then make four diamonds in the middle. Pull the ribbons and use pins to keep them in line before you glue them. Glue the ribbons on the back, not on the front, of your board. To hang the boards, glue two short ribbons on the top and tie a knot in them.
Follow these easy instructions to make a French message board worthy of organizing your important stuff in any room of the house.
