Poster Frame & Stand (30)Halloween is exciting for children of all ages, and an excellent opportunity to dress up a cork board with witches, wizards and more. Start with the basic board and trim and then add embellishments as you get nearer to Halloween.
First: Basic board
Cover the basic board with black tissue paper. This is a nice basic color that makes your later decoration additions stand out. Trim it with a Halloween-themed border. Look for spiderweb, bat, black and orange checkerboard or other borders with an obviously "Halloween" look. If you want to reuse the border for Thanksgiving, select a boarder decorated with fall leaves.
Second: Centerpiece
If you are in a classroom you can add a spooky poem to the center of the board and have children complete a related craft activity to decorate the board. For example, if you read a story about jack-o-lanterns they could cut out their own pumpkins and cut jack-o-lantern faces out of them. When taped or stapled over the black background the design would vividly show. In a workplace or office, take pictures of each staff member and use a photo program to add details such as witch hats, zombie coloring or other embellishments to make them look spooky and hang them on the bulletin board.
Third: Keep it going
Change or add to the bulletin board's centerpiece often during the Halloween season to keep the suspense and excitement mounting. The more personal you can make the details the more your little ghouls and goblins enjoy it and want to participate. Ask them for ideas to take into consideration when planning.
