The Easy & No Fuss Way To Make A Designer White Board - Picture Frames
I wish I had known this tip ages ago. First, did you know that dry erase markers work on glass, mirrors, etc? They do!
This one is super easy and fun.
1) Find a picture frame. Don't worry about the picture inside, pay more attention to the size and frame style. Garage sales and flea markets are great resources!
2) Find some poster board, whatever color you like. This is going to be the background for your white board so keep in mind that the background color should allow for the dry erase markers to show up (blue markers will be hard to see on a blue background).
3) Take out the picture in the frame and replace it with your posterboard.
Walla! You can write on the frame glass with a dry erase marker (and best part is, you don't get that marker ghosting that happens on normal white boards).
Pat's Big Tip: I made one for a friends daughter who was starting college. It cost me a about $6, but she loves it!. I found a frame at a garage sale with super ugly art inside. I paid $1.75 for it. Sanded it down real quick and painted it with blue paint (sampler size at Home Depot did the trick about $3 ). I replaced the ugly picture with some yellow poster board ($0.84) inside the frame. Got some yellow ribbon ($0.50) and pinned a blue dry erase marker ($1) to it (her school colors are blue and yellow). She loves it, she hung it on the outside of her door.
If you are into scrapbooking, then instead of poster board, think of the background as a gigantic canvas. Use your scrapbooking skills and create a custom made background.
